Undo a merge

Made a mistake? Every successful merge can be rolled back for 30 days, which restores the original records and reverses the changes the merge made.

Start a rollback

1. Open Merge History and find the merge.
2. Click the Rollback this merge (undo) action to open its audit page.
3. In the Rollback panel, check the Undo window countdown — it shows how long you have left. Then click Initiate rollback.

Rollback is only available for successful or partial merges that haven't already been undone or expired.

Choose what to restore

The confirmation dialog shows the impact — attribute changes to revert, tasks to reassign, notes to remove, and list entries to restore. A set of options (all on by default) lets you fine-tune exactly what's undone:

• Restore original attribute values
• Reassign tasks to the original record
• Remove migrated notes from the primary record
• Restore list entry associations
• Restore the deleted secondary record

Confirm

Because a rollback can't itself be undone, you'll be asked to type rollback to confirm, then click Execute rollback. DeDupe restores the records and marks the merge as Rolled Back in history.

After the window closes

Once the 30-day window passes, the merge shows as Expired and can no longer be rolled back automatically. If you need help recovering older data, contact support — and reach out before making manual changes in Attio so we can point you at the right snapshot.
